In the middle of the forest, the Externsteine rise as unusually shaped sandstone rocks, rugged and impressive from the green surroundings. Their form tells of ancient forces that shaped and erected the rock here in the Teutoburg Forest. It is these striking silhouettes that immediately catch the eye and create a unique atmosphere that invites contemplation.

The rock group towers over the surrounding hills and forests, creating a sense of natural grandeur. Between the jagged peaks and the sprawling trees, the view opens up to a gentle, wooded landscape. The differences in elevation in the terrain make the rocks appear even more imposing.
