The Balzi Rossi Beach is located on the Italian Riviera, directly on the border with France, below the steeply descending Alpine foothills that plunge into the Mediterranean Sea here. The coastline is characterized by striking, reddish rock formations that stand out from the deep blue water and give the region its name.

The rocks form a natural barrier that fragments the shore and creates small, sheltered coves. Behind this rugged coast, the terrain rises quickly and bears the densely built slopes of the Ligurian settlements.
