Königssee is often referred to as the “German Fjord”. Steep rock faces and high mountains drop directly into the water, forming a dramatic natural backdrop.
From the harbor, one looks directly into this landscape – this results in photos with great depth and strong contrasts.

The water of Königssee is very clear and often appears turquoise or emerald green. This creates strong colors and beautiful reflections of the mountains on the water surface – an effect that looks particularly spectacular in photos.
