Deep in the valley of the Elzbach, hidden behind wooded slopes, Eltz Castle rises on a striking rock spur. The surrounding ridges enclose the grounds, leaving little space and giving the place an almost enchanted narrowness. So it lies there, as if grown out of the forest.

One reaches the castle grounds via a stone bridge, with the view constantly shifting between the medieval walls and the steep abyss of the valley. The old paving of the path leads directly to the gate and conveys the feeling of entering another time.

Access: The path to Eltz Castle is well signposted and leads from Wierschem via a short access road.
