The Thurn Pass connects the Salzach Valley with the Brixen Valley, overcoming a saddle between the Kitzbühel Alps and the Granatspitz Group. The road winds through a wide valley basin, framed by steep, wooded flanks.

From the height, the view opens up to a wide, flat valley floor, traversed by a river. Settlements and traffic routes stretch as fine lines through the landscape, connecting the individual hamlets and villages.
