Lauterbrunnen and the Staubbachfall are a postcard motif par excellence, a valley straight out of a picture book. Here, majestic Alpine scenery meets idyllic Swiss village architecture, surrounded by almost vertically dropping rock faces, broken by countless waterfalls. The sheer size of nature in contrast to the charming village creates a unique, almost surreal atmosphere.

For the best light, I recommend late morning or early afternoon, when the sun optimally illuminates the valley and the Staubbachfall and bathes the rock faces in warm light. It becomes particularly atmospheric after rainfalls, when the waterfalls rush in full splendor and rainbows often appear in the spray. In autumn, the trees turn golden yellow and offer a beautiful contrast to the gray rocks.

Compositionally, the spot offers countless possibilities: from wide-angle shots that capture the entire valley with the village and waterfalls, to detailed shots of the fall itself or the small church in the foreground. Experiment with the perspective from the valley floor to emphasize the enormous dimensions of the rock faces, or look for elevated viewpoints for a panoramic view.
