In the middle of the historic village center of Eguisheim stands the small half-timbered house Le Pigeonnier, which is one of the most photographed motifs in Alsace. The former dovecote marks a fork in the cobblestone alleys and is framed by the colorful half-timbered houses of the medieval village. Its striking shape and harmonious architecture create a motif that perfectly reflects the charm of Alsace.

The spot is particularly impressive in the early morning, when the narrow alleys are still quiet and the warm sunlight makes the facades glow. Flower boxes, winding streets, and the typical wooden half-timbering offer countless opportunities for detailed shots. A wide-angle lens can capture the entire street scene, while a longer focal length highlights the dovecote as the central motif.

Since the photo spot is located in the middle of the village center, a visit outside of peak visiting hours is recommended. Especially in the summer months, the alleys fill up with tourists already in the morning. Those who arrive shortly after sunrise have the best chances for an almost deserted shot.
