Photo spot Sacré-Coeur

The combination of the radiant white Sacré-Cœur Basilica and a gigantic rising supermoon is one of the most spectacular photo motifs in Paris. But for the moon not to appear like a small white dot, but to unfold this enormous, almost surreal presence behind the domes, the right technique and planning are crucial.

Telephoto lens is mandatory: To achieve the optical effect where the moon appears huge compared to the building, you need extreme focal lengths – ideally 300 mm to 600 mm (or more).
Location distance: The further you stand from the subject, the larger the moon appears in relation to the architecture. Perfect spots are often several kilometers away (e.g., from the bridges of the Seine, elevated viewpoints, or distant high-rise buildings with a clear line of sight to Montmartre).
