The Berglsteiner See in Tirol is a real insider tip for photographers looking for a mix of mystical forest atmosphere and crystal-clear water. It lies hidden in a hollow between Kramsach and Breitenbach am Inn and offers first-class motifs at any time of year.

Here is your guide for the perfect shot:

1. The Top Motifs
The Stone Islands: The trademark of the lake. Striking rocks protrude in the middle of the water, on some of which even small trees grow. Perfect for long exposures to make the water appear silky smooth.

Reflections: Since the lake is very sheltered, the surface is often mirror-smooth. The surrounding mixed forests are reflected in incredible colors (gold/red), especially in autumn.

The Circular Hiking Trail: The path leads once completely around the lake. It offers countless perspectives through the trees, which gives the picture a natural frame (Natural Framing).

2. Best Light & Timing
Golden Hour: When the sun is low, the light falls diagonally through the treetops and often creates beautiful light rays (Light Rays) in the forest shadow.

Autumn (Peak Season): At the end of October, the lake is most photogenic. The colorful foliage in contrast to the emerald green water is unbeatable.

Winter: When the lake is frozen and snow-covered, it looks like something out of a Brothers Grimm fairy tale – very minimalistic and calm.
